Traditional Publishing Resources and a Hiatus

Hello, friends! This week is a bit different because it’s a bit more news-y than usual. But not to worry, you’re still gonna get some helpful stuff. More on that at the bottom of this entry.

For now, though, I wanted to announce (if you haven’t seen it on social media already), I’VE STARTED QUERYING FOR TRADITIONAL PUBLISHING!!! Whoo!!!!

I won’t write out the full journey here because it has been loooooooong. If you’re interested, though, there’s been a month-by-month account of the saga on my Patreon for $1 a month and up subscribers.

Which leads me to my next point: This blog will be taking a bit of a hiatus while I keep all my irons in the fire rotating—is that what you do with irons in a fire? Right, while I keep all the plates I’m spinning in the air. Whatever. I’ve started traveling again, which is so awesome! But it (and all it entails) is very time and energy consuming. I’ve started editing the next Broken Gears book (again, more news on that on my $1/month Patreon) while doing the querying thing. And then, yanno, there’s holidays coming up, and just continuing to have a life and not burning out.

So while I’m virtually away from this blog, I invite you to check out my very smart and talented friend’s site. Specifically, her information on the traditional publishing process. A.E. Gill and I were just talking last week about how much goes into this process and how much is definitely NOT intuitive. And there are a lot of pitfalls, which you will definitely encounter if you just google “how do I get published?” So please enjoy A.E.’s adorable little field-mouse-guided tour of that process. And for those of you who are interested in possibly undertaking this journey one day, I hope this is helpful (and I know A.E. does too).
